Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center serves metropolitan Boise and nearly 280,000 people in outlying rural communities in a three-state area with its Life Flight air medical transport service. The medical center operates a physician-hospital organization and a management services organization. Saint Alphonsus was a pioneer in trauma services and is the designated trauma center for the region. Its other centers of excellence include the Heart Center, Cancer Treatment Center, Orthopaedic Institute, Idaho Neurological Institute, urgent care centers, and women's and children's services including a Family Maternity Center. In addition, Saint Alphonsus has a management contract with four rural hospitals.

Since 1994, the medical center has operated Project Haiti, a program which provides ongoing support to a pediatric hospital and orphanage in Port-au-Prince.
