Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine

Trinity Health Muskegon provides high quality, immersive 1, 2 or 3-year osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine (ONMM) training experience to those interested in further developing or enhancing their osteo­pathic knowledge and skills.

Clinical experience will be provided in both inpatient and outpatient environments. Residents are responsible for continuity of care of patients in the outpatient clinic and learn to function in the role of hospital consultant for a wide variety of diagnoses.

The NMM-OMM Residency is an excellent opportunity to get in-depth exposure to the osteopathic philosophy and its incorporation into the care of all types of patients. Our program is accredited by the ACGME. This program is affiliated with the Michigan State University Statewide Campus Systems (SCS) Osteopathic Principles and Practices (OPP) Consortium, which provides a coordinated curriculum with all of the SCS-Affiliated NMM residencies.

Curriculum

Residents participate in a 1, 2 or 3-year rotating curriculum including review of key osteopathic texts, the writing of A.T. Still and other influential Osteopathic writers, including journal clubs, research opportunities and a variety of teaching opportunities in various settings, along with board exam and review.

Residents are expected to participate in the many educational opportunities provided by the medical education department at the hospital, including grand rounds, monthly WMOA meetings, and monthly didactics with the IM, OB and Family Medicine. Participation at the annual AAO Convocation is mandatory. Here, the residents will complete both the written and practical portions of the annual in-service examination and participate in a variety of lectures and workshops.
